Branch News
MU
John Clay told us about his life long involment with brass bands and the history of the world famous Black Dyke band at the April meeting. Today he is part of the Clifton and Lightcliffe Band who have entertained us here in Greetland in the past and are booked again for an evening of music later this year.
June is an active month for MU members. It is the June Jamboree on the 2nd at Cleckheaton Town Hall an evening of entertainment, tickets £5. The Deanery Summer Festival takes place at Rastrick on the 15th and our own meeting on the 24th is about Chelsea Flowers, should be a lovely evening do join us.
HOPE
About 18 months ago MU members listened to a talk about a village in India that is supported and run by people from the Cader Valley. As a result we proposed to the PCC that as a church we adopt a child in the village, it costs just £15 a month to maintain a child. The PCC agreed and we now support a young boy AROMAL and wait to hear more about him. Watch this space.
If you would like to contribute to his care please give your contribution to Tina , church tresurer.
TRAIDCRAFT
Thank you for your continued support of the monthly Traidcraft Stall.
We are all aware of the difficult economic climate and the producers for Traidcraft products across the world are also feeling the effects. They are already only just managing so our continued purchase of fairtrade products is even more vital. Buying fairtrade from Traidcraft rather than the supermarket is different as Traidcraft staff work with the producers to produce goods and develop the business.
During the year April 2009 to March 2010 at Greetland we purchased £1378 of goods, remember 10% of all sales goes into church funds.
SUNDAY JUNE 13th is the next date for your chance to buy!
